Pagina37 dedicates the first Silent Reading of the year to Memories: those in books, such as Proust’s madeleines (coincidentally on page 37 of a Mondadori reissue of Recherche), those that emerge from the pages of a passage reread after some time, and those that can be found between the pages of volumes donated by readers to other readers, when books circulate.
β SUNDAY JANUARY 18, 11 am
β Moderated by PAGINA37 – Il gioco dei libri a*
An evolution of book crossing and book sharing, Pagina37 is a cultural project launched in Turin in 2019 to promote the circular sharing of books, transforming them into tools for play, encounter and free access to culture.
With the patronage of the City of Turin and the collaboration of various local organisations, Pagina37 offers a lively and free programme of urban events, book hunts, travelling literary incursions and interdisciplinary events. The aim is to surprise and engage diverse audiences in public spaces, both formal and institutional, such as libraries and bookshops, and informal, such as streets, parks and public transport, and to establish itself as a dynamic and widespread cultural presence, accessible and inclusive, capable of combining reading, play and active citizenship.
SILENT READING
Just bring a book with you, take a seat wherever you like, and start reading: the first hour is dedicated to reading, the next to sharing and exchanging advice and impressions.
β
When someone shares, everyone wins.
We love to encourage people to share books, promote unexpected reading and stimulate shared reflections among readers of different ages and genders… even literary ones.

SILENT READING PARTIES
They started in New York about a year ago, quite by chance. Four twenty-somethings guys decided to get together in a Brooklyn apartment, with their phones turned off and lots of books they had never managed to read due to lack of time.
The group read silently for an hour, then always spent some time sharing their thoughts.
The first βofficialβ reading took place on the roof of their Brooklyn apartment, where the young people had invited some of their friends.
Then the project attracted more and more people, expanded, and after only a couple of months involved two hundred people.
The young people then decided to consolidate the format, which is attracting more and more people of all ages in various places around the world.
