An hour of quiet reading in the company of other readers, far from the hustle and bustle and digital distractions, followed by an hour of discussion and debate moderated by those who work with books and writing.
In February, Carlina’s book event will host writer Enrico Pandiani.

Silent reading: just bring a book, take a seat wherever you like, and start reading.

Enrico Pandiani (Turin, 1956) began his career as a storyteller by writing and illustrating comic strips
published in Mondadori’s “Mago” and “Orient Express” magazines. He worked for years with the daily newspaper “La Stampa” as editor of the infographics section. He made his debut as a novelist with Les italiens (Instar Libri, 2009), the first of seven novels featuring Commissioner Mordenti. In 2013, La donna di troppo (Rizzoli) was published, a novel set in Turin starring private policewoman Zara Bosdaves, followed by Più sporco della neve. In 2018, he published Polvere, a new novel published by DeA Planeta, and in 2020, Salani published Lontano da casa. In January 2022, the Nero Rizzoli series released the novel Fuoco, the first in a new series featuring fugitive Max Ventura and his companions, which won the 2022 Scerbanenco Prize. In May 2023, he published Ombra, the sequel to the Ventura gang, followed in May 2024 by Naufragio, the third novel in the series, and in 2025 by the fourth, Rimorsi.

Ever since I can remember being in this world, I have always had a book in my hand. If I could go back, I would change many things about my life, but not that. Of everything I have had in my life, a large part of it has been given to me by books. Even after I started writing. If ever, during some absurd dictatorship, they made me kneel and, with a gun pointed at my head, forced me to choose between writing and reading, I would choose reading.

SILENT READING PARTIES
They started in New York about a year ago, quite by chance. Four twenty-somethings decided to get together in a Brooklyn apartment, with their phones turned off and lots of books they had never managed to read due to lack of time.
The group read silently for an hour, then always spent some time sharing their thoughts.
The first “official” reading took place on the roof of their Brooklyn apartment, where the young people had invited some of their friends.
The project then attracted more and more people, expanded, and after only a couple of months involved two hundred people.
The young people then decided to consolidate the format, which is attracting more and more people of all ages in various places around the world.
