Maria De Ambrogio and Stella Tosco have been working together for over 15 years, developing a creative practice that brings design and artistic research into dialogue.
Through their label serien°umerica, the two designers have shaped a distinctive language in which fine materials meet an intimate, timeless narrative. Each piece is designed to last, bringing together quality, memory and a deep appreciation for things made well.
Work partners and friends in life, Maria and Stella decided to bring their family photo archives into dialogue. From this encounter emerged a process of selection, sharing and cross-pollination: images drawn from two different stories and worlds, yet connected by familiar places, faces, gestures and atmospheres that seem to belong together.
Working with the photographs they selected, the two designers created collages incorporating vintage fabrics, crochet, embroidery and fragments of memory. Their aim was to bring different visual languages closer together, rediscover shared traditions and uncover new points of connection.
The aim is to breathe new life into these traces of the past through making, material and connection, weaving together individual memories to create new stories that can be shared.
