Bach and Scarlatti: two composers born in the same year (1685) who share a compositional style that is at times lively and earthy, and at other times contemplative and religious.

Music by Bach and Scarlatti

We will hear three sonatas by Scarlatti, including the poignant K. 466; a Partita by Bach; two original arrangements by Antonietta Assini based on the St. Matthew Passion and the Mass in B minor; and finally, the famous Chaconne in D minor transcribed by Busoni.

Antonietta Assini

Born in Florence in 1976, she earned her piano diploma at the age of 19 and went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Instrumental Pedagogy from the Conservatory of Ferrara.
Alongside her musical training, she pursued a literary education, graduating with honors in Literature from the University of Florence, with a thesis on the history of theater.
She has participated in national and international piano competitions, receiving awards of merit.
She performs in concerts and has appeared both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles.
She has devoted herself passionately to teaching for many years and currently teaches at the Conservatory of Aosta.
She recently recorded *Il Tocco Sacro – Johann Sebastian Bach: Great Masterpieces and New Piano Arrangements* for Ema Vinci Records, which includes an original piece for keyboard (French Overture BWV 831) and the famous Chaconne in Busoni’s version, as well as four original arrangements of Bach’s sacred music works.
