Architecture as a form of art: a phenomenon capable of evoking emotion and immersing the viewer in a suspended, dizzying experience of space.
The works displayed on the walls of the grand staircase develop a visual language centered on spatial ambiguity and beauty: architectural forms are fragmented and reconfigured into dynamic compositions, and perspective becomes unstable.
The staircase itself, which houses the project, is the protagonist of the series’ central image: created by Ferrando for the exhibition, it too is a reinterpretation of space in a dimension that is both physical and sensory, offering a glimpse into the artist’s unique and deeply personal perspective.

CHIARA FERRANDO (Torino, 1978) conceives of photography as a medium through which to articulate his vision and perception of reality, focusing on the forms and environments that define everyday experience. His artistic and intellectual exploration revolves around architecture and landscape, guided by an interpretive inquiry aimed at revealing the latent narratives and inner life inherent in places.
His artistic practice is grounded in the tension between past and present, where architectural volumes, styles, and temporal layers coexist and interact. Light and shadow serve as primary narrative devices, structuring the image and guiding the viewer’s gaze through the space, thereby creating new perceptions.
His photographs are distinguished by a refined, almost painterly sensibility. In his works, the use of black and white intensifies the formal qualities of the subjects, emphasizing texture, rhythm, and the emotional dimension of architectural space. Through monochromatic palettes and precise geometries, his work explores the tension between structure and void, movement and stillness, offering an essential and evocative interpretation of contemporary and historical landscapes.
CHIONO REISOVA ART GALLERY (CRAG) supports and showcases emerging and mid-career artists. The gallery, founded in 2016 in downtown Turin, is directed by Elisabetta Chiono and Karin Reisovà, who, since its opening, have been actively scouting young talent, some of whom are now established figures in the contemporary art scene. The project stems from a family connection and a shared passion for art, which over time has evolved into a joint curatorial practice. This intergenerational dialogue helps define the gallery’s identity: an independent space, open to experimentation and guided by a keen focus on the quality of contemporary artistic practice.
